Rosa Satchel by Jimmy Choo

Ok so as most of you will have realised by now you can’t keep a blog about designer handbags going for too long without a great new bag by Jimmy Choo. I don’t keep count but I’d say never more than a month goes by when the great designer himself creates something that people in the fashion world just can’t stop talking about.

At first look the Rosa Satchel may seem a little too understated for some but I suppose that’s the great thing about Choo as they can get away with both the understated and the bizarre in the same collection. It’s not completely obvious at first glance that the bag is lizard but the embossed effect really makes the leather feel amazing to the touch. Also the shine effect they have created from this leather makes it stand out across the room despite the dark purple colour.

Satchels are becoming more and more popular in the world of handbags these days and I have to admit that I’m not exactly sure why. I suppose on the one side you have the extra practicality of handles but in my opinion if you paying over £1000 for a handbag (£1200 in this case) practicality isn’t coming into it. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t help but think how much better this bag would look with just a shoulder strap, I mean doesn’t everyone use shoulder straps these days? Still I suppose it is the job of designers to provide great looking bags for everyone even if that means designing for practicality, ie just look at the number of designer briefcases we are seeing these days.

Jimmy Choo purple Zebra Hobo

Zebra

The first thing i have to say about this latest Hobo from Jimmy Choo is that the colour looks simply amazing. Ok so maybe a bit overstated but this is one of those designer handbags that stands out from 100 miles away and instantly draws the eye. It really ticks the two boxes the catapult any fashion item into the stratosphere and that is:

  • Look amazing
  • Look different

Wasn’t a very long list was it, and it almost sounds too simple but it is true. Like all great designer bags though it does have one or two flaws, for one it doesn’t seem that practical as its in-between (in size terms) clutch and tote which is always an awkward place to be. I can’t help thinking it would be a lot easier to carry around if it had a larger handle (possibly shoulder) and maybe a little bigger? The thing is if Jimmy Choo did make these changes (think he is reading?) then it would look no-where near as stunning. So again we come back to the question of style over practicality, ideally you find the perfect combination of the two but in reality most of us just want the style fix and decide to leave practicality till tomorrow.

So if you are looking to throw your sensible hat out the window then this Jimmy Choo Zebra hobo can be yours for around £800.

Jimmy Choo white leather clutch bag

Jimmy-Choo-white-clutch

So been a while since ive had a Jimmy Choo clutch bag on cheapdesignerhandbag so i thought i would review this slightly eccentric new Zulu bag that i just spotted on their site today. Its a bit different than anything ive seen in a while but that can only be a good thing. The main effect is the black and white butterfly imprinted onto the white leather on the side of the handbag which is really quite unique and bound to stand out at any decent party.

This clutch bag is quite big as its over 12 inches long but i think its good to have a variety of shapes when it comes to clutches as we all have different needs when it comes to our designer ware. Also some people may have reservations about the white leather and what kind of outfit it will go with but i think if Kate Moss can pull it off then hopefully you ladies can too!

Inside the bag has a satin lining and on the top there is only a standard zip pull which isn’t that adventurous i have to say but still. Since it is a genuine Jimmy Choo Zulu you can expect to pay at least £500 for it but i have heard of some great bargains on the online stores. As i have said before its always best to shop around as sometimes your not just paying for the brand of the handbag but the store you are buying it in, weather that is Saks fifth avenue or your local high street shop.

Jimmy choo and Marc Jacobs look-a-likes

Ok so this seems to be happening more and more lately. Designer bags that look very alike. This time it is a bag from Jimmy choo and Marc Jacobs. Now i have to say that they are not exactly the same but there are some very big similarities in them. One difference that i am sure you are going to notice is the Price as the Marc Jacobs is around £995 and the Jimmy choo only around £395. Now that is quite a difference in my opinion. Still is does make you think, are the top designers looking more and more at each others work?
